Long Island hardcore-informed emo band Koyo were on their way home from tour with Bayside and I Am the Avalanche when they were involved in a crash that left their van in pretty awful condition (though thankfully the members are alright). They say:
Hey everyone, obviously we dropped a new single today and naturally have been posting about it, and will continue to do so, but last night we got into a pretty rough accident and it feels wrong/weird to just act as if nothing happened because new music is out today.
At about 2:00 am outside of Geneseo, NY coming home from Buffalo on our last night of tour with I Am The Avalanche and Bayside, a car tried passing us on a backroad and rear ended our trailer. We skid out, the trailer snapped off and flew past our van into some random person’s yard, and the van got smashed up pretty bad. We’re all alright, a little beat up, but alive and very grateful for it.
We’ll be sorting this over the next few days, but we’ll get home okay. When we get back we’re going to post some leftover merch. If you feel like supporting us during this tough time, you can pick something up then, offset some of the expenses that come with situations like this.
Corny as it is to say, you can also just stream “Message Like A Bomb”, run it up for us today. Let us know if you fuck with it, how you feel about it, whatever whatever. Not on some pity shit or something, the morale boost is just appreciated because we’re going through it.

We’re glad to hear they’re okay, and as they mentioned, the latest single from their upcoming debut LP Would You Miss It? is out today. “Message Like A Bomb” is the song that features Glassjaw’s Daryl Palumbo, and here’s what vocalist Joey Chiaramonte says about working with one of his heroes:
“Message Like A Bomb” is a sweet ballad, anthemic track, with some real venom layered underneath it. It’s a song fueled by my distaste for a lot of the things I see around me as the band grows in scope and size, as well as the scene surrounding us does the same. I’m not the hater type, but whatever hater energy exists in me is laced into this song. This song also gave us the opportunity to have Daryl Palumbo of Glassjaw and Head Automatica do a feature on the track and that’s been surreal. Glassjaw is one of my favorite bands, and Daryl is one of the greatest creatives of my lifetime, or at least that’s how I feel. We reached out to him about this feature, kinda taking a shot in the dark about a year prior to it actually happening, and he responded all that time later out of nowhere completely down to do it. His swag, character, and nuance, is now baked and layered into various parts of the track. The final mix via Jon Markson left me speechless. It’s been an honor beyond any words I could assemble to have him on this track.

Koyo also just announced that they’ll be opening for Four Year Strong on a Rocks Off Cruise on September 15, alongside Can’t Swim. Tickets for that go on sale Friday (7/28) at 10 AM.
