Katrina Ford (Celebration) announces new album: watch “Cry Wolf” video

Katrina Ford of Celebration will release a new solo album, H.E.A.R.T. (Heart Ember Abuse Resin Trend), on November 1. “Edges, the line, the start and the finish, There was no clearly defined beginning or ending to the making of this album,” Ford says. “My work as an artist is a run on sentence. I light many fires and some I carry out the door, so to speak. Some of these songs were written years ago and some were finished this year. They all have the mark of pandemic.”

H.E.A.R.T. was made with her Celebration partner Sean Antanaitis. “We’re maximalists,” Ford says. “I love all kinds of music — the vocals and recording techniques of Phil Spector and girl group pop, the weirdo pop of ’80s legends like Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel, and the punk and goth that’s in my bones.”

The album includes “Dundalk Dungeon,” which was released earlier this summer, and the new single is “Cry Wolf,” a cinematic, swooping synthpop song that is a great showcase for Ford’s vocals. “‘Cry Wolf’ gives voice to things we feel we must keep quiet about to not be considered alarmist or too sensitive,” she says. Watch the video below.

Katrina will celebrate the album’s release in Baltimore at Ottobar on November 2 with Arbouretum. That’s her only live date at the moment.
