Nothing have announced that their Slide Away Festival will return to New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles in 2026, and two pioneering bands are coming back to co-headline all dates: Champaign, IL heavy shoegaze vets Hum and British shoegaze vets Chapterhouse. Nothing will also be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Tired of Tomorrow at these fests.
For Hum, the band say these are the only shows they have planned in 2026, and they mark the first Hum shows since their appearance at the 2019 Dia De Los Deftones festival, as well as their first shows since their excellent 2020 comeback album Inlet.
Hum released Inlet during COVID lockdown, and the prospect of live shows came to a halt in 2021 when drummer Bryan St. Pere sadly passed away. For these shows, Matt Talbott, Tim Lash, and Jeff Dimpsey will be joined by touring drummer Jason Gerken (also of Shiner), who also filled in with Hum for a tour in 2015.

Hum is happy to announce we’ll be playing a few shows in 2026 as part of the Slide Away Festival. We’ll be playing all dates of the festival in Brooklyn, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
We don’t have anything more planned, but are excited to fire up the machine once again with our brother in arms, Jason Gerken, behind the drums. We hope you’ll come and join us at these shows. Thanks again for all your kindness and support over the years.
Chapterhouse, meanwhile, haven’t performed live in over 15 years, following a reunion from 2008-2010 which marked their first shows since the ’90s. They released a box set with B-sides, remixes, demos and more in 2023 called Chronology.
Slide Away expands to a two-day affair in both NYC and LA this year, and it takes place at NYC’s Brooklyn Paramount on May 15 & 16, Chicago’s Aragon Ballroom on May 23, and LA’s Hollywood Palladium on May 30. UPDATE: A second Chicago date has been added, on May 22 at Aragon Ballroom.
In addition to Hum, Nothing, and Chapterhouse on all five dates, the lineups also include lovesliescrushing, Bleary Eyed, and Manslaughter 777 on night one in Brooklyn; Swirlies, She’s Green, and Warmachine on night two in Brooklyn; She’s Green, Total Wife, and Crate on night one in Chicago; lovesliescrushing, Cloakroom, and Sunshy on night two in Chicago; Ovlov, Mint Field, and Seko on night one in LA; and Ovlov, Cryogeyser, and Terraplana on night two in LA.
