Madrid quartet Hinds previously shared singles “Garden” and “Chili Town” from their debut album, Leave Me Alone, which will be out on January 8 via Mom + Pop. Now you can listen to their latest track, “San Diego.” It’s an upbeat surf-punk influenced song with a California vibe, appropriately matching its title. Although it’s more lively than the LP’s other singles, the lyrics tell a darker story about their struggles with insomnia. In an explanation of the song, the band wrote:
“We all have bad days. We mean bad nights. One day a friend told us ‘I don’t wanna fall asleep because I know what’s the dream about.’ This song is about staying awake, just staying awake.”
Hinds just wrapped up their North American tour with Public Access TV in October and are heading out on their European tour later this month. All dates are listed, along with the stream of “San Diego,” below.
