London band Goat Girl have announced Below the Waste, their third album which will be out June 7 via Rough Trade. After two records made with Dan Carey, the band’s Lottie Pendlebury, Rosy Jones and Holly Mullineaux co–produced this one with John ‘Spud’ Murphy (Lankum, black midi).
The first single from the album is “Ride Around” that is equal parts poppy and sludgy. “I dreamt of conversations that stripped away all the etiquettes and went below the surface to where the most interesting parts of ourselves tend to be suppressed,” says Lottie. “At the time, I was listening to lots of Phillip Glass and Deerhoof, music that plays with the relationship between tensions and resolution, which definitely influenced this song.”
