Glare announce debut LP, playing shows with Fiddlehead this week

Texas shoegazers Glare have EPs and singles dating back to 2017, but they only just announced their debut album, Sunset Funeral, due April 4 via Deathwish Inc and Sunday Drive Records (pre-order). The first single is the gently ethereal “Guts,” of which the band says:

“Guts” is about an all consuming love. One that’s exciting and new it makes you feel anxious. A love that feels like it could last an eternity. The song had several iterations before it was finalized. Months after getting the final mixes back, the lyrics were reworked and vocals were rerecorded. It’s a special song for us because we mulled over the tone, trying to get it right.

You can check out the Derek Rathbun-directed video below.

The announcement comes just a few weeks after the band cut ties with vocalist/guitarist Christian “Rez” Resendez following allegations of abuse that were made against him. The band played their first show as a quartet without Rez in Texas on Friday (1/24), which doubled as a premiere event for the “Guts” video.

Glare have more shows coming up, including shows with Fiddlehead and Prize Horse this week at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge on Thursday (1/30) and Cambridge’s Sinclair on Friday (1/31) before both Fiddlehead and Glare play Run For Cover’s Something In The Way festival in Boston this weekend.
