
Winter is here, but Game of Thrones‘ new season is coming…in April. For those who can’t wait, the final two episodes of Season 4 will be remastered/reformatted for IMAX screens and will be shown in IMAX theaters for one week, January 23 – 29. That makes Game of Thrones the first TV show to screen in IMAX. Additionally, this will be your first chance to catch the trailer for Season 5. Tickets, including ones for NYC’s Lincoln Square Cinemas (the only true IMAX screen in the city) will go on sale “later this week.” Interest in tickets has already crashed the IMAX website at least once today.
You may remember that the HBO series threw a Season 4 premiere event at Barclays Center last year which sold out in six minutes. Will they do something similar this year? For those who need more Thrones, HBO will reportedly air a special of some sort in February, which is also when Season 4 comes out on DVD/Blu-Ray.
