Fred Mascherino rejoining Taking Back Sunday for tour with Coheed & Foxing

Taking Back Sunday‘s Where You Want To Be / Louder Now-era guitarist/secondary vocalist Fred Mascherino made his first appearance with TBS in 17 years at their holiday show in NJ this past December, and now Fred is set to rejoin them for their entire upcoming tour with Coheed & Cambria and Foxing because John Nolan is taking “a short break from touring to spend time with his family.”

Here’s what John and Fred both had to say:

The band has always prioritized family, but finding the right balance between being at home and being on tour is always difficult. Coming into this summer I realized I needed to dedicate time to the well-being of my family. Adam and Shaun understood, and we worked together to find a way for the tour to move forward without me. My first thought was to reach out to Fred and luckily that made sense to everyone, and he was happy to participate.

Playing with Taking Back Sunday again was something I’d been wanting for a while, but it feels surreal now that it’s happening. For me, it’s a story about healing. We were young back then and I needed to learn things about myself. I reconnected with Adam a little while ago and was just trying to rebuild the friendship. That makes this bigger for me than just being on the stage. That said, I’ve always been grateful these songs have endured, and I’m excited to play and sing them with everyone this summer.

TBS also posted a video message from the whole band with more:
