Flight of the Conchords’ Bret McKenzie will release Freak Out City, his second solo album, on August 15 via Sub Pop. He recorded in Los Angeles and New Zealand with regular collaborator Mickey Petralia.
Bret has just shared Freak Out City’s very Harry Nilsson-esque title track and its funny video directed by Ezra Simons. “I love how reality unravels along with the song,” Bret says. “We shot the video in Wellington over a couple of wintery days last month. I felt like I was in a surreal New Zealand episode of The Office.” Watch below.
You can catch Bret at select headline shows this fall: he’s playing LA, DC, London and has an NYC stop at Le Poisson Rouge on October 17. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 18 at 10 AM local time and all dates are listed below.
