FIDLAR have made a video for “Punks,” the new single from their 2015 album, Too. The band made it at The Flaming Lips’ art space/studios in Oklahoma City where they were given full access to the Lips’ vast supplies of aluminum foil, fake puke, and other necessary raw materials for a futuristitc, dystopian video such as this. Bassist Brandon Schwartzel co-directed the video with frequent collaborator Ryan Baxley with help from Flaming Lips collaborators Zachary Ryan Cox, George Salisbury, Tom Hudson, and Travis Pierce. Says Schwartzel:
Getting to make a video at the Womb using all of the Flaming Lips’ resources was a dream come true. We had their entire warehouse at our disposal and there were always a bunch of ‘freaks’ hanging around offering to help us make cool stuff. There doesn’t seem to be that much to do in Oklahoma City, so if you’re a weird art kid, you’re probably going to end up hanging out with the Flaming Lips. Something I really like about both of our bands is the preference for friends over professionals. Getting your friends together, giving them a job to do, and then watching them excel at it is super cool.

FIDLAR have just announced the ‘Too Much Tour’ which they’ll play alongside SWMRS and The Frights. That tour hits NYC on November 11 at Terminal 5. Tickets for that show go on sale Friday, June 17 at noon with an AmEx presale starting Wednesday (6/15) at noon.
