NYC’s Bryant Park hosts its annual lineup of free Picnic Performances this summer, from May 31-September 13. They’ve just revealed the lineup for the Emerging Music Festival, which is curated by AdHoc and happens on June 28 and 29. Peforming this year are Chanel Beads, Mei Semones, and Los Esplifs on Friday, 6/28 at 7 PM, and Horsegirl, Hannah Jadagu, Bloomsday, Greg Mendez, and @ on Saturday, 6/29 at 5 PM.
Another new addition to this year’s lineup is Vijay Iyer with bassist Devon Gates and Jeremy Dutton on August 30. You can see the full Picnic Performances schedule, which includes opera, dance, jazz, and more, here.
Chanel Beads’ debut album Your Day Will Come came out in April, and he’ll be on tour with Mount Kimbie this month, including Webster Hall on May 29. Mei Semones’ debut EP Kabutomushi also came out in April, and she supports Fazerdaze at Baby’s All Right tonight (5/16). Los Esplifs also play Union Pool’s Summer Thunder series in June.
Horsegirl are touring with Cindy in June on their way to Wilco’s Solid Sound Festival. Hannah Jadagu released her debut LP for Sub Pop, Aperture, last year, and she’ll be on tour with Slow Pulp in the fall. Bloomsday’s new album Heart of the Artichoke is out in June, and they play an NYC release show for it on June 10 at TV Eye with Danishevskaya and Lily Seabird. Greg Menez is supporting Angel Olsen on a few dates of her fall solo tour. @ will support Jessica Pratt in July at one of her Bowery Ballroom shows.
