The Cult will start their fall North American tour on Thursday in Niagra Falls. The tour has them resurrecting their early, gothy Death Cult moniker and each show features one set as Death Cult, full of early-’80s classics like “God’s Zoo,” and one as The Cult. The tour hits NYC on 10/14 at Beacon Theatre, but they’ve added another show while here, playing the much smaller Gramercy Theatre on Saturday, October 12. Tickets are on sale.
Talking with Scott Lipps, frontman Ian Astbury said these Death Cult shows will be “a way to witness a burning unicorn,” adding, “This isn’t an archeological dig. This isn’t the Smithsonian. We’re not trying to recreate 1983…one of the strange aspects of music is it’s played in the moment. It’s about the visceral experience of what we’re gonna do.”
The tour is with newer goth band Patriarchy and all dates are listed below.
