Citizen have announced their sixth album, Halcyon Blues. It’s the follow-up to 2023’s fantastic Calling The Dogs, and it’s due out August 7 via Run for Cover. Singer Mat Kerekes recorded this one himself in his home studio in Toledo, and it was mixed by Tom Lorde-Alge, the all-star mix engineer who’s mixed countless huge records and who’s best known in the punk world for his work on blink-182’s Enema of the State and so many other big pop punk records that followed it.

As we’ve said in other recent Citizen articles, the big picture of this band’s shapeshifting catalog has really come into focus on their past few albums, and at this point there’s a signature Citizen sound, whether or not one song’s exact subgenre is the same as another’s. That’s very true of lead single “Highs and Lows,” an anthemic post-hardcore/indie rock hybrid that doesn’t sound like any other band in the world. Judging by this track, Citizen’s recent hot streak has not cooled down one bit. Watch the video below.
Citizen have also announced a fall tour, including North American shows with Anxious, Hotline TNT, Rocket, and Cryogeyser; Europe with Modern Color; and Australia with Drug Church in early 2027. See all dates below.
The NYC show is at Brooklyn Steel on August 28. Tickets for that and all dates go on sale Friday, May 1 at 10 AM local.
