Funk punk band !!! (Chk Chk Chk) are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year (whoa!) and will do so with a three-night run Brooklyn’s Union Pool on November 8, 9 & 10. Right before the Union Pool shows, they’ll also play Hamden, CT’s The Ballroom at The Outer Space on November 7. Tickets for all those shows are on sale now, and here’s the band on the momentous occasion (and what to expect):
20 years ago, a week or so after Halloween we had the first practice/jam session as what would become !!! We are celebrating this the way a young band like us should, by playing a set of ALL NEW songs at a residency at Union Pool. That’s right, all new songs. So don’t show up and yell from the back for some song we wrote 19 years ago. If u want oldies, catch us on a reunion tour someday. We did a week like this before recording the last album and most of the people who agree with everything we say agreed that the shows were a totally exciting way to see us work out the new jams. We’ll f*ck up for sure and the songs will grow and change every night, but it’s all kind of fascinating like a funky train wreck. Many of the songs we played last time never saw the light of day, so this may be your only chance to see some of these songs before they disappear forever into our demos folder.
