Las Vegas is getting a new emo (and emo-adjacent) festival called Best Friends Forever this October, and this one’s got a wider scope than nostalgia for the genre’s most popular era. It’s primarily made up of bands from the more indie-centric ’90s and 2010s-to-present eras, and it’s got a handful of rare sets and reunions.
The headliners are Bright Eyes, the newly-back-in-action Sunny Day Real Estate, and the first-announced show in seven years from Cap’n Jazz. The fest also includes the first-announced show in over a decade from The Dismemberment Plan (also just released their first recording in over a decade), continued reunions from Unwound, Algernon Cadwallader, Karate, Everyone Asked About You, and more.
Other veteran bands on the bill include The Jesus Lizard, Built to Spill, American Football, The Get Up Kids, Jawbox, Pinback, The Murder City Devils, Braid, Hot Rod Circuit, Rainer Maria, Piebald, The Anniversary, Recover, and Form of Rocket, many of which are still relatively rare to see; and bands from the newer generations include Mannequin Pussy, Momma, Fiddlehead, Foxing, La Dispute, Drug Church, Sweet Pill, From Indian Lakes, Pool Kids, Vs Self, Home Is Where, Hello Mary, Boyfriend Sushi Town, and more.
The fest goes down October 11-13 at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. Tickets go on sale Thursday (2/29) at 10 AM PST (1 PM ET). Check out the poster with the full lineup below.
