Black Belt Eagle Scout has cancelled her upcoming shows due to some “pretty scary health issues” she’s been experiencing. “Earlier this year, I started experiencing some weird symptoms that I thought were from pinched nerves in my neck and spine,” she writes. “After many doctors visits and medical tests, and having to advocate so hard for myself within the medical system, via MRIs, I’ve finally been able to get some answers. I am now working with a top neurologist in Seattle who suspects I have relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS). I am still undergoing more testing and have been having a hard time with my energy, mobility and other nerve symptoms.”
“This has been a difficult time for me as I move into an unknown territory, especially one where my music is challenging for me to do right now, but my husband, Camas, and my family and friends have been my guiding lights in keeping a positive outlook toward healing,” she adds, continuing, “Our friend has set up a GoFundMe via Camas as we will be unable to work for the foreseeable future and as Camas helps care for me in the coming months. The fundraiser will help cover our living, medical and other expenses for a while, as we work with my neurologist on a care plan for healing and recovery. We are kindly asking our community for some support as the future is unknown and we are still in the early stages of diagnosis and treatment plans. We are here asking for support and healing for KP (Katherine Paul) and her husband Camas Logue (Black Belt Eagle Scout) while they navigate KP’s debilitating and frightening medical emergency.Currently, KP is going through a diagnosis process with her neurologist based on symptoms and MRI results indicating relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) and we are requesting help from our community during this time.
After coming back from a North American tour earlier this year, KP’s health took a toll and the past few months have been a scary journey to navigate to find out answers for what is going on. She is currently seeing a top neurologist at the Virginia Mason Multiple Sclerosis Center in Seattle, WA, where she is undergoing more testing and will receive care. As per her neurologists instructions, she is to rest and focus on her healing and recovery as this is the most important thing for her right now.
This means that we will be unable to continue making music and going on tour for the time being. Since touring is our main source of income and we have incurred more out of pocket health expenses than normal, we are asking our friends and community to help us during this time of need so that we may be able to focus on KP’s healing for the foreseeable future.
