Having already announced a fall tour, Big Thief now have a new album to go with it. Double Infinity is their first in over three years and will be out September 5 via 4AD. The band recorded it with longtime collaborator Dom Monks over three weeks at NYC’s legendary Power Station studio with contributions from Alena Spanger, Caleb Michel, Hannah Cohen, Jon Nellen, Joshua Crumbly, June McDoom, Laraaji, Mikel Patrick Avery, and Mikey Buishas.
The first single and opening song on Double Infinity is “Incomprehensible,” where Adrianne Lenker rattles of lines like “In two days it’s my birthday and I’ll be 33 / That doesn’t really matter next to eternity / But I like a double number, and I like an odd one too / And everything I see from now on will be something new” over a hypnotic, looping, ethereal and danceable backing.
