The 2024 edition of Knoxville’s eclectic Big Ears festival is a month away, and they’ve just announced a big addition: André 3000, who will be there for a five-show New Blue Sun residency happening across three different venues. These shows will be separately ticketed, with pass-holders getting early priority. Full details are here.
The news comes with the announcement of this year’s full lineup and daily schedule for the four-day festival, which takes place across downtown Knoxville’s many venues. The lineup also includes Adrianne Lenker, Herbie Hancock, Rhiannon Giddens, John Paul Jones, Digable Planets, Laurie Anderson, Jon Batiste, Beth Orton, Bonnie ‘Prince Billy,’ Marc Ribot, bar italia, Unwound, Thurston Moore, the King Britt curated “Blacktronica: Afrofuturism in Electronic Music,” Hurray for the Riff Raff, Joanna Sternberg, Joe Russo, Kokoroko, Roger Eno, Secret Chiefs 3, and lots more. Also just announced: artist Steve Keene, who has painted album covers for Pavement, Silver Jews, Apples in Stereo and more, will present a live art performance.
