Beck‘s 2013 sheet-music-only album Song Reader has been turned into a musical and is playing as part of Washington DC’s 2016 Capitol Fringe Festival which is currently underway. It’s being brought to the stage by Harvey Droke and Daniel Hornal with the blessing of Beck’s management. Here’s a synopsis from Droke (via DC Theatre Scene):

The story centers around a sheltered army recruit and a jaded exotic dancer who meet just before his first deployment. I don’t want to give it all away, but let’s just say they both go through some crazy life changes, and despite the drama, there are several hilarious routines that will bring light to some of the darker moments.

There are strippers and fight scenes – what more could you want!?

Song Reader is being staged on July 10, 12, 17, 20 & 23 at Atlas Performing Arts Center: Sprenger. Tickets are on sale.
