Bambara release Birthmarks, their first album in five years, on March 14 via Wharf Cat / Bella Union, and they’ve just announced a tour in support. It begins September 18 in Philadelphia and wraps up in Montreal on October 19. The NYC stop is at Bowery Ballroom on October 16, and tickets for all shows go on sale Friday, February 28 at 10 AM local time.
Well before that, Bambara play a free album release show at Baby’s All Right on March 7 (RSVP here), and they’ll head to the UK and Europe after that. All dates are listed below.
Bambara have also shared a new song from Birthmarks, the moody and atmospheric “Face of Love.” Says frontman Reid Bateh, “The story begins when a server at a diner reminds a man of a woman from his past. Inspiration for the music came from listening to Cocteau Twins songs reversed and slowed down. It features guest lead vocals from Madeline Johston (Midwife), backing vocals by Jen Monroe and harp played by Marilu Donovan (LEYA).”
