It’s been over five years since members of Fatter Than Albert, The Flaming Tsunamis, All People, and others formed Bad Operation, released their instant-classic debut album, and coined the phrase “New Tone” that went on to become shorthand for the entire new generation of ska bands, and now they’re finally set to release a second album. (In between, they also released a split with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones/Avoid One Thing’s Joe Gittleman.)
The new album Everything Must Go arrives on April 24 via Bad Time Records and Community Records, and first single “Free Dom” is out now. It finds Bad Operation doing what they do best, fusing 2 Tone’s influence with fresh, urgent new ideas and coming out with something danceable, catchy, and powerful. Check it out below.
Everything Must Go was recorded by the band’s own Brian Pretus, and then mixed by Matt Embree of ska/prog/post-hardcore vets RX Bandits. Frequent Bad Time Records bands horn players Jeremy Hunter (aka JER) and Em Williams play trombone and sax (respectively) on the song “Oh No.”
Bad Op are also one of the three main bands on the 2026 Bad Time Records Tour, alongside Kill Lincoln and JER, plus other bands from the BTR family on select dates.
