Melbourne band Parsnip have announced Behold, the follow-up to their 2019 debut, which will be out April 26 via Upset the Rhythm. The band produced it themselves, with all four members writing and singing, and it was made it over three sessions in as many years.
The first single from the album is “The Light,” a shimmering, tuneful song which owes a lot to The Kinks, as well as early-’80s janglepop indie from around the world. “’The Light’ is about having the wool removed from your eyes and seeing everything as it really is, blindingly clear, for the first time,” says the band’s Carolyn Hawkins. “I was thinking a lot about the transformative power of anger in grief and healing, and I guess I also just wanted to express how I was feeling. Rage always produces the catchiest songs.”
