Arooj Aftab has announced a tour in support of her upcoming album Night Reign. Dates kick off July 22 in Chicago and include a free NYC show at SummerStage in Central Park on July 24 with Sid Sriram and EMEL. She’ll also open for Khruangbin in Saint Louis and New Orleans.
Before the tour, Arooj will play NYC record release shows at Baby’s All Right on May 30, and a sold-out in-store at Rough Trade on May 31. All dates are listed below.
Night Reign is out May 31 via Verve and Arooj has shared a second single from it, the harp-bejeweled “Whiskey.” “‘Whiskey’ is about being out at night with someone you like, but the evening gets a little carried away,” Aftab explains. “My friend has had too much, now I am tired, and I need to figure out how to get us both home. But overall somehow the night and the interaction is still pretty cute.”
