Anjimile‘s anticipated album The King will be out in a couple weeks, and he’s just shared a new song from it. Darkly seething, “Animal” was written the summer of 2020 and specifically references the death of George Floyd, with lines like “if you treat me like an animal, I’ll be an animal.” Every sound on this richly textured song was created by either Anjimile’s guitar or voice. The King is out September 9 via 4AD, and Anjimile has announced fall tour dates happening in early December. Those include an NYC show at Public Records on 12/5 and a Kingston show at Tubby’s on 12/7. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 25 at 10 AM, and all dates are listed below.
