So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
SUNSET RUBDOWN – “CLICHÉ TOWN”
The first single from Sunset Rubdown’s first album in 15 years was a real high-energy stormer, and second single “Cliché Town” finds Spencer Krug & co going in more of a glammy art rock piano ballad direction.

FROST CHILDREN – “SHAKE IT LIKE A” FT. DANNY BROWN
Ahead of playing as Danny Brown’s backing band at a Brooklyn show, Frost Children have shared a new hyperpop-infused track with the rapper.

RIPPED TO SHREDS – “FORCE FED”
San Jose death metallers Ripped To Shreds have shared another face-melter from their upcoming LP Sanshi. If you like thrash metal of the old school death-thrash / proto-grind variety, you need “Force Fed” in your life.

LISEL – “TIME&MONEY (OR, HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND OBEY THE EXCHANGE)”
Eliza Bagg has announced her new album as Lisel, the follow up to last year’s Patterns for Auto-Tuned Voices and Delay. The Vanishing Point is due out on October 18 via Ba Da Bing, and she’s shared the first single, a striking art/electro-pop track.

HALSEY – “LONELY IS THE MUSE”
Halsey follows up her sad singer/songwriter single “The End” and her Britney Spears-interpolating “Lucky” with another song that sounds straight out of the early 2000s, but not at all in the way that “Lucky” did. This one sounds like the era’s radio-friendly alt-rock.

THE BLESSED MADONNA & KYLIE MINOGUE – “EDGE OF SATURDAY NIGHT”
The Blessed Madonna’s full-length debut Godspeed is out in October, and she’s shared another new single from it, which features Kylie Minogue. “Almost 30 years after my first stay at Pikes Hotel in Ibiza, it was a total joy to revisit this iconic destination,” Kylie says. “I loved sharing this unforgettable moment with The Blessed Madonna and am so happy the excitement and energy of this hot August club adventure was captured in the video for ‘Edge Of Saturday Night’. I was so delighted to be asked by Marea to be part of this track and can’t wait for fans to hear it.”

NUBYA GARCIA – “SET IT FREE” (ft. RICHIE)
The latest taste of UK jazz musician Nubya Garcia’s upcoming album Odyssey is “Set It Free,” a groovy jazz/hip hop/neo-soul hybrid with guest vocals from former Kokoroko trombonist Richie Seivwright.

ANNA MCCLELLAN – “JAM THE PHONES”
About her new single for Father/Daughter Records, Omaha singer-songwriter Anna McClellan says, “It feels like the world is falling apart, like our rights and our comrades are being systematically wiped out. But so it has been for centuries.This song is a tender nudge to eschew fear. Live hard and love harder and start today. Be grand, be emotional! Cause why not, right?”

HUMDRUM – “SEE THROUGH YOU”
Chicago musician Loren Vanderbilt, formerly of Star Tropics. is making ’80s-inspired indiepop as Humdrum and will release his debut album Every Human on October 18 via Slumberland. “See Through You” is shimmering and propulsive and should appeal to anyone who loves late-’80s alternative.

TAPIR! – “HALLELUJAH BRUV”
South London six-piece Tapir! released The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain back in January and now they’re back with this brand new single. Says Ike from the band, “One day after finishing work in a coffee shop in a church yard I narrowly avoided getting locked in by thegroundskeeper. He signed off our conversation with ‘hallelujah, bruv’. This song is dedicated to this man.”

BIRD CALL – “TINY TRANSISTOR”
Bird Call (aka LA-based Guatemalan/Italian art pop artist Chiara Angelicola) says her new single “Tiny Transistor” was written “as I was being clinically diagnosed with OCD during the first wave of the pandemic. I spent several months not being able to leave my house because I literally thought the virus was on my doorstep. I was so grateful I was able to still write and exercise my craft because much of my time in isolation I felt incapacitated. The song is inevitably a story about my journey through that time, the incessant internal chatter, and the process of quieting the prattling worries of the mind through music. The creative process of making records has always allowed me an opportunity to heal and empower myself after experiences like the one told in Tiny. The video for Tiny was also my invitation to heal through movement. I took a giant leap into the unknown working with choreography for the first time.”

COLD CAVE – “SIREN SONG”
Having released singles on the 15th of the month since March, Cold Cave have now announced that their new album, Passion Depression, will be out October 15. Here’s the latest single which has a little Dead Or Alive / Hi-NRG vibe to it.

Windsor, Ontario’s Heavenly Sweetheart make crunchy ’90s-style power-pop alt rock and enlist fellow practitioner Liquid Mike for this catchy new single

TRIPPER – “CYCLES”
Baltimore hardcore band Tripper have a new vocalist (Nic Ledford) and they just announced a new EP, Faceless, due October 4 via Thirty Something Records. The first single is “Cycles,” of which Nic says, “This is about trying to work things out with an ex that just can’t see my perspective or my effort in trying to break self destructive habits. I’ve been doing a lot of self reflection and work on myself the past several months and it has caused me to see things in a new light.”

ERIC ROY DINWIDDIE (THE UPTONES) – “COVENTRY”
Eric Din of US ska vets The Uptones is putting out one song at a time until it results in a new album called Disambiguation, and the first one is a 2 Tone-inspired song named after The Specials’ hometown.

BEN QUAD – “YOU’LL GET NOTHING AND LIKE IT”
Oklahoma emo band Ben Quad have signed to Pure Noise and they get heavy on their new single “You’ll Get Nothing and Like It.” Read more here.

Willie Nelson announced a new album, Last Leaf on the Tree, and shared a rendition of Tom Waits’ “Last Leaf” from it, which you can read more about here.
