So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
METRONOMY – SALTED CARAMEL ICE CREAM (1-800 GIRLS REMIX)
Metronomy calls this 1800-GIRLS remix of their song “Salted Caramel Ice Cream, “Melodic house meets electro brilliance, this may well be stuck in your head until ice cream season ends!” Metronomy’s Greatest HIts is out September 5.

WOLF ALICE – “THE SOFA”
Wolf Alice’s anticipated new album The Clearing arrives next month, and they’ve given us another early taste with “The Sofa.” “It’s about not trying so hard to figure everything out, reflecting on getting older and trying not to agonize over things that have or haven’t happened in your life,” Ellie Roswell says. “It’s also about trying to get to grips with the polarising aspects of one’s life when you’re in a band. You’ve just played a huge tour – and you come home, and you have your dinner on the sofa. For me, it’s summed up in how I treat TV. I used to never watch the same thing twice because I thought I’ve got so much to discover! And now I’m like, It’s okay if I just want to rewatch Peep Show for the thirteenth time.”

PINO PALLADINO + BLAKE MILLS FT. CHRIS DAVE – “TAKA”
Premiere bassist Pino Palladino and great guitarist Blake Mills will follow up 2021’s Notes With Attachments with a new collaborative album, That Wasn’t a Dream, that will be out August 22 via Impulse! Groovy first single “Taka” features Chris Dave.

KIESZA – “SO EROTIC” FT. PEACHES
Kiesza’s new single “So Erotic” features Peaches, and Kiesza says, “Peaches is a legend! I slid into her DMs not knowing if she would see it or respond. She lives in Berlin but happened to be in Toronto where I was recording the volume with Jess Cake, Sugar Jesus and Bobby Love at my house. She came by and laid down her verse. She is truly a badass icon. The track is super juicy and heavy and very dirty. The bass feels like a dungeon.”

TUNDE ADEBIMPE – “PEOPLE”
TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe has shared this outtake from his debut album and proceeds will be divided equally between The Southern Poverty Law Center, The ACLU, and The Movement for Black Lives.

GOLDFINGER – “FREAKING OUT A BIT” (ft. MARK HOPPUS & TRAVIS BARKER)
Ska-punk veterans Goldfinger sometimes play with Travis Barker on drums, and their new single is a duet between John Feldmann and Travis’ blink-182 bandmate Mark Hoppus.

FRED THOMAS – “THEY WERE LEANING AGAINST THE CLOCKTOWER, IT WAS EARLY, MAYBE IN MARCH OR APRIL”
Fred Thomas of Saturday Looks Good To Me is releasing a new collection of synth-drone pieces, Critical Violets, Dream Erosion Pt. VII, due out on July 22, and he’s shared the opening track.

MARUJA – “SAOIRSE”
Rising UK art punk/jazz/prog/etc band Maruja have shared another taste of their upcoming debut album Pain to Power, and this one’s a jazzy art rock slow-burner.

MODERN LIFE IS WAR – “JACKIE OH NO”
Melodic hardcore veterans Modern Life Is War have shared the soaring second taste of their first album in 12 years, Life On The Moon, which we’ve also got an exclusive vinyl variant of (limited to 100).

ROCHELLE JORDAN – “TTW”
Rochelle Jordan has announced a new album, Through The Wall, due September 26 via EMPIRE. The sorta-title track “TTW” is a dose of euphoric dance-pop.

JER – “CAPITALISM BREEDS DEVASTATION”
Ska torch-carrier JER does not mince words on their new song “Capitalism Breeds Devastation.” It’s a mid-tempo, 2 Tone-esque ska song and the second single from their upcoming sophomore album Death of the Heart.

MIRANDA LAMBERT & CHRIS STAPLETON – “A SONG TO SING”
Country stars Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton get soulful on this new duet.

KASSA OVERALL – “REBIRTH OF SLICK (COOL LIKE DAT)” (DIGABLE PLANETS COVER)
Jazz/hip hop artist Kassa Overall has announced CREAM, an album entirely made up of instrumental jazz covers of hip hop songs (plus one Miles Davis song). The first single is a very cool take on Digable Planets’ jazz-rap classic “Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat).” The album’s due September 12 via Warp.

DENZEL CURRY, FRED AGAIN.., SKEPTA, PLAQUEBOYMAX – “VICTORY LAP TWO”
In addition to announcing a tour with Deftones this week, Denzel Curry hopped on a new remix of Fred again.., Skepta, and PlaqueBoyMax’s “Victory Lap.”

RACING MOUNT PLEASANT – “YOUR NEW PLACE”
The Michigan-based band formerly known as Kingfisher are releasing their debut album under their new moniker Racing Mount Pleasant, and they’ve shared the sprawling chamber pop track “Your New Place,” which you can read more about here.
