Danny Brown @ Theatre at MSG
Danny Brown @ Theatre at MSG (more by P Squared)

You can browse our full NYC show calendar for all of tonight’s shows, but here are some highlights…

Todd Rundgren @ Brooklyn Bowl
Hello, it’s Todd: pop chameleon, record producer and general eccentric Rundgren plays tonight with a full band tonight.

Danny Brown @ House of Vans (screening, performance & Q&A)
One of the more eccentric rap breakouts of late, Danny Brown will play this free House of Vans show after a screening of the concert doc Danny Brown: Live at the Majestic. He’ll also do a Q&A with director Andrew Cohn. RSVP is closed.

Sondre Lerche @ McKittrick Hotel
The very talented Sondre Lerche plays two very intimate shows at McKittrick, this being the first. If you managed to snag tickets, this will be pretty sweet.

Corinne Bailey Rae @ Mercury Lounge
Corinne Bailey Rae made a splash with her 2006 debut album which garnered great reviews and went to #1 in the UK (it went platinum in the U.S. too). She followed it up with 2010’s The Sea, and just followed it up with third album The Heart Speaks in Whispers.

Twin Peaks, Ne-Hi, Jimmy Whispers @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
Twin Peaks celebrates the release of their very enjoyable new album Down in Heaven with fellow Chicagoans Ne-Hi.

Itasca, Hamish Kilgour, Home Blitz, David Nance Band @ Union Pool
Itasca (aka LA singer-songwriter Kayla Cohen) headlines this show which features a killer undercard, including The Clean’s Hamish Kilgour and underrated indie rockers Home Blitz.

Goblin @ Marlin Room at Webster Hall
It’s a little hard to keep track of the iterations of Italian prog band Goblin that are out there touring, and sometimes still making records. This one is Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin, who are stopping in NYC tonight before heading to Maryland Deathfest.

Flatbush Zombies, A$AP Twelvy, Remy Banks @ Webster Hall
NYC rap trio Flatbush Zombies have been kicking around the local scene for a few years, putting on wild live shows and dropping a handful of solid mixtapes and singles. Earlier this year, they released their first proper album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey. This is their first of two sold-out hometown shows.

Denny Laine @ BB King’s
An original member of The Moody Blues who later joined Paul McCartney in Wings, Denny Laine will be playing Wings’ Band on the Run tonight in full with his band.

Nyck Caution @ Baby’s All Right
Pro Era’s Nyck Caution recently released his debut mixtape, Disguise the Limit, which features his Pro Era pals Joey Bada$$, Kirk Knight, Chuck Strangers and more. Tonight’s his first-ever headlining show ahead of the Smokers Club Tour he’s going on with Cam’ron, The Underachievers, Smoke DZA, G Herbo and more.

Literary Death Match ft. H. Jon Benjamin, Hasan Minhaj, Aya Cash, Jazmine Hughes, Lindsay Zoladz, Tony Tulathimutte, & more @ Bell House
What is Literary Death Match? “Four writers read their own work for five minutes or less, and are then judged by three all-star judges. Two finalists are chosen to compete in the Literary Death Match finale, a vaguely-literary game to decide the ultimate winner.”

Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick.
