Typhoon, Bad Bad Hats, Sunbathe @ Rough Trade (2 PM)
Portland, OR chamber pop collective Typhoon recently returned with Offerings, an album that’s a bit darker than their earlier works but no less ambitious. This is their second of two NYC shows, and it’s a daytime show with a signing. To get in, you have to buy the new album from the Rough Trade store.
Talib Kweli ft. Kenny Garrett & band @ Blue Note
Talib Kweli has been celebrating the 15th anniversary of his classic solo debut, Quality, with a residency at The Blue Note that began this past September. It wraps up tonight with Kenny Garrett as the special guest.
Dead Boys (Ft. Cheetah Chrome & Johnny Blitz), Pale Moon Gang, Tuff Sunshine @ Bowery Electric
Surviving Dead Boys members Cheetah Chrome & Johnny Blitz have been taking their former band’s music on tour since last year, when their classic debut album Young Loud and Snotty turned 40. They play Bowery Electric tonight and tomorrow.
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds @ Irving Plaza
“Citi Sound Vault” is a series of popular musicians playing very intimate shows while they’re in town for the Grammys. Tonight, they’ve got Lady Bird’s fave Dave Matthews.
