Garbage’s new album Strange Little Birds may very well be the band’s best since the ’90s. Kristin Kontrol, the new ’80s pop-inspired project of Dum Dum Girls singer Dee Dee, opens.
Nice As Fuck, Alix Brown @ Bowery Ballroom
Having only announced themselves to the world a few months ago, NAF (aka Nice as Fuck aka Jenny Lewis, Erika Spring and Tennessee Thomas) have already released their debut album, and this is their final two of four NYC shows over the last few days. Early show is sold out; tickets to the late show are still available.
Beirut, Helado Negro @ The Capitol Theatre
Beirut returned last year with No No No, which is more of their high-quality eccentric baroque pop. Tonight they play just outside of NYC, ahead of tomorrow’s Prospect Park show.
Ronnie Spector (Sings the Fabulous Ronnettes) @ City Winery
As frontperson for what was arguably the ’60s girl group, The Ronettes, Ronnie Spector is the voice behind such classics as “Be My Baby,” “Walking in the Rain,” “Do I Love You,” “The Best Part of Breaking Up,” and more. She can still belt it out.
Night Train w/ Alzo Slade @ Littlefield
Alzo Slade fills in for regular Night Train host Wyatt Cenac and welcomes guests Jackie Kashian, Reggie Conquest, Mark Normand, Peggy O’Leary and more.
