Melody’s Echo Chamber, Quilt @ Music Hall of Williamsburg
With a new album supposedly on the way (her first since her 2012 debut) it will be exciting to hear what Melody Prochet has up her sleves, musically, these days. Added treat: Boston’s great Quilt open the sold-out show.
Royal Headache, Sheer Mag, Home Blitz @ Rough Trade
With a terrific new album, High, just out, Australia’s Royal Headache hit town for their first of three Brooklyn shows with Sheer Mag. Both bands raise a ruckus, probably even at a well-mannered place like Rough Trade. Like all of their shows here, this is sold out.
Heems, Sandunes, Big Baby Gandhi @ Baby’s All Right
Das Racist may be over but Heems is still making quality music on his own, most recently releasing the 2015 album Eat, Pray, Thug. He plays Baby’s tonight in continued support of that.
The Atlas Moth, Vattnet Viskar, Family @ Saint Vitus
This is a pretty great double bill for metal fans with the psychedelic sludge of The Atlas Moth and the boundary-pushing black metal of Vattnet Viskar.
Kamasi Washington @ Blue Note (2 shows)
Jazz musician Kamasi Washington has been having a pretty busy year. He appears on Kendrick Lamar and Thundercat’s new albums, and he also has his own, The Epic, out on Flying Lotus’ Brainfeeder label (Thundercat features on that album too). Tonight he wraps up his two-night stay at the Blue Note with 8 PM and 10:30 PM sets each night.
Maudlin of the Well @ The Stone
Toby Driver begins his residency at The Stone tonight, and he kicks things off with two sets (8 and 10 PM) from his avant-garde metal band Maudlin of the Well.
Cake Shop Comedy @ Cake Shop
If you miss Big Terrific and Hannibal Buress’ Sunday night show at Knit, and are looking for a new free, weekly comedy show that happens in a rock club and sometimes has big name talent stop by unexpectedly, “Cake Shop Comedy” might do the trick. (Aziz Ansari and Louis CK have both stopped by in recent weeks.) 8 PM.
