Kelela, Young Paris, Sam Dew, HXLT @ Lot 45
This month’s Red Bull Sound Select show in NYC is curated by Afropunk and headlined by the R&B boundary pusher Kelela. Support comes from African electro artist Young Paris, Dave Sitek collaborator Sam Few, and G.O.O.D. Music member HXLT (aka Hollywood Holt). Admission is $3 with RSVP or $10 without.
SOAK, Beau @ Le Poisson Rouge
Charming young Irish singer SOAK released her debut album, Before We Forgot How To Dream, last month. Her songs are draw enough, but she’s a good, funny storyteller as well so expect a few between-song banter sessions.
O.A.R., Ryan Bingham @ Brookfield Place
The annual Lowdown Hudson Blues Festival is now called the Lowdown Hudson Music Festival, which explains why O.A.R. are playing this year. It’s free, though.
