Relentless Canadian punks Single Mothers return to NYC with their pals from up north, The Dirty Nil. Making the show extra great, it doubles as the release show for heavy/atmospheric rockers City of Ships.
Diarrhea Planet, Left & Right, Slonk Donkerson @ Baby’s All Right
Nashville’s rauccous Diarrhea Planet make the kind of punky, boozy guitar anthems that are perfect for sing-a-longs, fist-pumping, crowd surfing, beer throwing and other such behavior. Which is to say they’re a lot of fun. Baby’s is calling this “Diarrheaster” but you don’t have to.
PC Worship, Axis:sovA, Lushes, Xander Duell @ Palisades
Chicago guitar tripper Axis:Sova released his new album, Early Surf, last month via Ty Segall’s God? Records. Catch them tonight with fellow fringe-dwellers PC Worship.
Robby Krieger @ City Winery (early and late)
In celebration of The Doors’ 50th anniversary, guitarist Robby Krieger (one of two surviving original members) is on tour playing the band’s hits. Obviously it’s nothing like the real thing, but it’s still a treat to see Robby play.
Adron, Johanna Warren @ Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3
Tropicália-inspired Atlanta singer Adron headlines this show, and it’s a solid double bill with somber folk singer Johanna Warren opening.
White Prism @ Ace Hotel
If your taste in synthpop leans towards the Italo stylings of Sally Shapiro, you might want to check out Brooklyn’s White Prism, whose new album, Open Heart Job, is out on Tuesday. They’re playing every Sunday in April at Ace Hotel.
