The Blood Brothers began Belasco Theater run with Gylt (pics, video, setlist)
After playing their first show in almost a decade last month at Vegas festival Best Friends Forever, The Blood Brothers have officially begun their reunion tour, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of Crimes, and they hit Los Angeles on Thursday night (11/7) for the first of two shows at The Belasco Theater. They’ve been sticking mostly with the same setlist at these shows, which is heavy on Crimes material, and also includes favorites from thoughout their discography. SFGATE called their recent San Francisco show “unhinged” in their review, writing:
If the Blood Brothers have settled down, they don’t perform like it. When he’s not stage-diving, Whitney jerks his body like he’s trying to shake out a demon. Blilie leans forward and closes his eyes when he screams, which is often. On the drums, Mark Gajadhar pounds out rapid-fire, relentless rhythms that expand and contract from one measure to the next.
The band picked different openers for each night on this tour, and Thursday’s show was with Gylt. You can see pictures from the night by Wei Shi below, along with an attendee-taken video and the setlist.
