UK dreampop cult group Panchiko returned from obscurity in 2023 to release their second album, some 20 years in the making, and tour North America for the first time. They’re not squandering the moment and are already back for another North American tour which hit NYC on Friday night at Brooklyn Steel with rising shoegaze phenomenon Wisp as opener.
Panchiko’s set was heaviest on their first era material, including “All They Wanted, “D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L,” “Kicking Cars,” “Stabilisers for Big Boys,” and “Laputa,” but 2023’s Failed at Maths was well represented too, with “Gwen Everest,” “Until I Know” and more.
