Metallica wrapped up their 2016 with a home turf Bay Area show at the Fox Theater in Oakland last night (12/17), and tore though a setlist that ran the gamut from old school classics “Blackened, “Harvester of Sorrow,” and Seek and Destroy,” to “Atlas, Rise!,” and “Moth into Flame.”
The band has been playing more intimate venues over the last few months (like The Fonda in LA on Thursday) to road-test the songs from their new album Hardwired… to Self Destruct, but by the time they hit the stage last night it was quite apparent that any rust has been shaken off, and they are primed and ready to hit the road in 2017. So far their 2017 schedule includes international dates and Columbus, OH’s Rock on the Range fest, but more North American dates are TBA.
