Lollapalooza 2026 Friday pics & video (Smashing Pumpkins, Charli XCX, Slayyyter, Freddie Gibbs, more)

“There’s nothing quite like playing our hometown,” The Smashing Pumpkins wrote on Instagram following their Lollapalooza-headlining set on Friday. As mentioned, they had a few guests on hand for the occasion: Olivia Rodrigo, who joined them on “Thirty-Three,” the second time they’ve played that Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness cut since 2018 (the first was a night earlier at their intimate Riviera show); Yungblud, who joined them on “Luna,” and Melissa Auf der Maur, who like she did at Riviera, came out for “The Everlasting Gaze.”

Charli XCX was Friday’s other headliner (she also joined Lorde onstage the night before) and while she’d done a few intimate shows for it, it was her first full set for her second album of 2026, Music, Fashion, Film. She played most of that album, a bunch of songs off brat, two songs off this year’s Wuthering Heights soundtrack, and a few older songs. Watch video from her set below.

Friday at Lollapalooza also had Slayyyter (who was upgraded to one of the main stages), The Story So Far, horsegiirL, Freddie Gibbs, Oklou, Finn Wolfhard, Suki Waterhouse, Zara Larsson, Not for Radio, and more. See pictures by James Richards IV below.
