JAŸ-Z‘s three show run at Yankee Stadium is officially a wrap. The shows were billed as “JAŸ-Z 30” on Friday (celebrating 30 years of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt), “JAŸ-Z 25” on Saturday (celebrating 25 years of 2001’s The Blueprint), and “Extra Innings” on Sunday, and like his 2010 and 2013 shows at the same venue, they were full of special guests. Night one got Beyoncé, Nas, his daughter Blue Ivy Carter, Memphis Bleek, Jaz-O, and Alicia Keys; night two had Slick Rick, Eminem, and Pharrell Williams; and night three was the most stacked night of all, guest-wise, with Teyana Taylor, Jermaine Dupri, Jeezy, Usher, The-Dream, Rihanna, Swizz Beatz, Pharrell Williams, Clipse, Beyoncé, Fat Joe, and Jadakiss all joining Hova over the course of the night.
Night three was also plagued by hours of delays; videos show people rushing the Yankee Stadium gates, and the venue was locked down for a period of time afterwards. When he finally was able to take the stage after midnight, Jay-Z said, “I appreciate your patience. We gonna have a good time. I got some shit for you, I promise you.”
A joint statement from Jay-Z, Roc Nation, Yankee Stadium, and Live Nation reads, “The Yankees, Roc Nation, and Live Nation express our deep gratitude to the NYPD and to Yankee Stadium security personnel for their leadership and direction throughout the evening, putting the welfare of attendees above all other considerations.”
