Depeche Mode are currently in NYC on the North American leg of their ‘Global Spirit’ world tour, having played their first of two shows at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, September 9. With over 30 years worth of music to choose from, it’s tough to please everyone, setlist-wise, but the band included lots of classics (“Enjoy the Silence,” “Never Let Me Down Again,” “Everything Counts”) as well as newer material, like from this year’s Spirit. They also covered David Bowie’s “Heroes” in the encore, which they’ve been doing regularly on this tour, and video of that is below. Did you go to the show? Setlist is below.
Having Sunday off — singer Dave Gahan may have spent the day opening mail (he lives in NYC these days) — Depeche Mode play MSG again tonight (9/11) which, like Saturday, is with Warpaint (who are definitely worth getting there early to see). Tickets are still available.
