Charli XCX & Troye Sivan began “Sweat” tour (Detroit & Montreal pics, video, setlist)

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan kicked off their “Sweat” arena tour at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena on Saturday (9/14), followed by a Montreal-area show at Place Bell on Monday (9/16). Rather than playing their own consecutive sets, Charli and Troye are swapping turns onstage every few songs on this run, and performing a few of their collaborations. Billboard, who attended the Montreal show, write:

While Troye performed with backup dancers, Charli was alone on stage, just her and a backing track and a lot of vibes. Charli’s path to pop stardom hasn’t been conventional, so it makes sense that she wouldn’t be a conventional pop performer, either.

Her performances don’t have precise choreography or major vocal moments — instead, Charli is giving bratty chaos from start to finish, strutting across the stage, preening for a roving videographer who followed her around like paparazzi, periodically yelling to the crowd that Montreal was looking extremely cute and sexy. During Brat‘s “Sympathy Is a Knife,” she crawled across the floor and belted like a collapsed diva.

The tour hits NYC on Madison Square Garden on September 23, and you can see all dates below. Charli’s new Brat remix album, Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat, comes out on October 11 with 11 still tba tracks; stay tuned.
