Riot Grrrl greats Bratmobile played their first shows in 20 years last summer in California, and have kept the reunion going. They were on the East Coast this past weekend for their first NYC-area shows in two decades, playing Tubby’s Kingston on Friday and Brooklyn’s Warsaw on Saturday. Both shows were with Downtown Boys and Warsaw also had cumgirl8 on the bill.
The current lineup of the band includes original members Allison Wolfe and Molly Newman, along with Tiger Trap‘s Rose Melberg on guitar, Audrey Marrs on keyboards, and Marty Key on bass. They kicked off their set with “Love Thing” and then kept the classics coming, including “The Real Janelle,” “Cool Schmool,” “Gimme Brains,” “Love Thing,” “Bitch Theme” and more. For the encore, the played “Girlfriends Don’t Keep,” and had Rose take the mic for Tiger Trap’s “Supreme Nothing,” then played “Queenie” before bringing out some of their daughters to join them on their cover of Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb.”

Bratmobile play Los Angeles in May ahead of Punk Rock Bowling and will be in Chicago in July for Pitchfork Fest.
