Canadian singer/songwriter Basia Bulat is on tour now in support of her great new Jim James-produced album Good Advice. She hit NYC for a show at Bowery Ballroom on April 1, which was the day after her birthday, and her band celebrated by bringing out a piñata that Basia jumped into the crowd to beat open. The band and crowd also sang her “Happy Birthday.”
Earlier this year, Basia was nice enough to fly to NYC to play an intimate solo show as a tribute to our dear friend and photo editor Chris La Putt, and it was great to see her back in NYC with a full band playing more upbeat versions of some of those same songs (like “Infamous”). She did include a section of solo songs at this show too though, playing “Gold Rush,” “Before I Knew,” and “In The Night” without her band and also ending the encore solo with “It Can’t Be You.” Setlist and more pictures from the show (including shots of opener Twin Limb) below.
