NYC’s Vision Festival, celebrating its 20th year, has been going on all week at Judson Memorial Church with an eclectic lineup of music, dance and poetry. Things kicked off Tuesday (7/7) with sets from Roscoe Mitchell‘s Trio and Quintet, Amina Claudine Myers & Henry Grimes, Douglas Ewart‘s band Quasar, and more. Joseph Jarman was scheduled to do the Invocation this year, as he had done the first 10 years of Vision Fest, but was not feeling well so Patricia Nicholson took his place. Vision Fest continues through the weekend. Tonight includes David Murray with Class Struggle Trio, violinist Jason Kao Hwang with Sing House, and pianist Matthew Shipp with dancer Yoshiko Chuma and more. Tickets are still available. More pics from Tuesday’s kickoff event, below…
