West Side downtown club Sway, one of NYC’s it clubs in the late-’90s/early-’00s (when nearby Don Hill’s was going strong) will close on December 27. Onetime known as a cool collision of artists, hipsters, filmmakers, musicians and occasional Lindsay Lohan DJ sets, these days Sway may be best-known for its ever-popular Smiths Night parties on Sundays. Sway will close with a Smiths Night (12/27) and there’s one this Sunday (12/20), too. Manager Pebbles Russell told Gothamist, “It was just time for it to close,” saying diminishing crowds were not a factor.
