Zach Bryan joined Jason Isbell on stage, releasing new album on July 4 & previewing it at bars

Zach Bryan recently released two new songs, “Pink Skies” and “Purple Gas” (the latter a duet with Noeline Hoffman on a version of her own song), and now he has confirmed that his new album The Great American Bar Scene is arriving on the Fourth of July. Before that though, he’ll preview some of the songs at 23 American bars that he himself hand-picked, starting on June 24.

“My intent with all this is to give everyone an early glimpse of this album, but more importantly this is in the spirit of bringing people together for a memorable moment,” he says.

“As much as I’d kill to play all these timeless bars,” he adds, “it won’t be possible. I will be visiting a few off the list to have a drink with ya’ll.” Check out the full list of bars below–the closest one to NYC is Montclair, NJ’s Egan & Sons.

Zach also just brought his Quittin Time Tour to Detroit’s Ford Field last night with Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit opening, and Jason invited Zach out during his opening set to sing “King of Oklahoma” with him. “Thanks for letting me ruin your song Mr. Isbell,” Zach later wrote on social media. “I respect you and care for your music more than life itself. It was a privilege and an honor to meet a hero. Can’t wait to hear this without my voice on it at the next one, we love ya!” They sound pretty amazing together, as you can hear for yourself below.

Zach’s Quittin Time Tour hit the NYC-area in March, and he’ll be back in December to play Barclays Center on December 18 & 19 with Levi Turner and Matt Maeson. All dates here.

Jason Isbell & the 400 Unit also announced their 10th residency at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium this week, with support from Alice Randall (10/10), Garrison Starr (10/11), Mary Gauthier (10/12), Caitlin and Liz Rose (10/13), Matraca Berg (10/17), Iris Dement (10/18), Gretchen Peters (10/19) and Kim Richey (10/20).
