Wolf Parade’s Dan Boeckner (also of Handsome Furs, Operators, and Divine Fits) has announced his debut album as Boeckner, after revealing the existence of the new project last year. The album’s called Boeckner!, and it comes out March 15 via Sub Pop (pre-order).
The album was made with Matt Chamberlain on drums, Brad Laner of Medicine handling guitar and some vocal arrangements, and Kiwi Jr.’s Jeremy Gaudet. “This record is like an autobiography—Atlas Strategic music concrete synth explosions, lush synth stuff from Operators, the noise guitar from Handsome Furs, drawing influence from everything from Stockhausen to Tom Waits all at the same time,” Boeckner says.
The first single is “Lose,” which finds Boeckner in propulsive new wave/synthpop mode, with his unmistakable voice leading the way. Check it out below.
