Emo veterans Texas Is The Reason are back once again for their first time in nearly a decade, and they began their latest reunion tour with a two-night stand at NJ’s Crossroads on Saturday (9/13) and Sunday (9/14). They had their old friends The Van Pelt opening night one and Van Pelt singer/guitarist Chris Leo’s brother Ted Leo opening night two, and Ted also came out during night one to join them on a cover of Sugar‘s “Changes.” That was the only proper cover of the night, but they also worked part of Fugazi’s “Waiting Room” into their own similarly groovy “Nickel Wound.”
On top of that, they performed every song from their sole full-length album, 1996’s Do You Know Who You Are?, as well as two of the three songs from their 1995 self-titled EP, “Blue Boy” from their 1996 split with The Promise Ring, and the two songs that were written in 1997 but recorded in 2012 for the Do You Know Who You Are? reissue (“Every Little Girl’s Dream” and “When Rock ‘N’ Roll Was Just A Baby”).
