The Pogues will go on their first tour since the death of Shane MacGowan in 2025 which will be a 40th anniversary celebration of their second album, Rum, Sodomy & The Lash. (It is not their first tour without Shane though; he was out of the band for most of the ’90s.) Ahead of that, they played a special show at Dublin’s 3Arena on Tuesday night (thanks, Stereogum) which celebrated the 40th anniversary of The Pogues’ debut album, Red Roses for Me, that featured a host of very special guests. Among those was Fontaines D.C.‘s Grian Chatten, who came out to sing “Streams of Whiskey,” and you can watch that below.
The Red Roses for Me celebration also featured appearances by Lankum’s Ian & Daragh Lynch, John Francis Flynn, The Mary Wallopers‘ Andrew Hendy & Séan McKenna, Brigid Mae Power, Nadine Shah, and more. The encore included another take of “Streams of Whiskey” with everyone from the whole night and, of course, “Fairytale of New York.” Check out the setlist and more video from the Dublin show below.
