Watch Julien Baker join Kevin Devine on Bad Books’ “I Love You, I’m Sorry, Please Help Me, Thank You”

After multi-show residencies in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, and Toronto, Julien Baker is in the midst of her Los Angeles residency at The Bellwether, which wraps up tonight (10/28). She had different openers for each night, and she joined Sunday’s, Kevin Devine, during his set on a rendition of Bad Books’ III track “I Love You, I’m Sorry, Please Help Me, Thank You.” Watch attendee-taken video below.

“Honestly and quickly, I met Julien in two thousand and I think 16 for the first time, maybe earlier than that,” Kevin said, introducing Julien, “but I remember communicating through email first, and then, cause I don’t know if you’re familiar, I remember hearing your music and just being like, ‘what the fuck,’ and then reaching out and being like ‘hey what the fuck,’ and then she was kind enough to reach back and tour together, eight years ago like right now, in 2016. And on that tour we became friends, and Megan who’s doing front of hour tonight, Avanthi who tour manages sometimes, the whole crew, Nandi Half Waif, this whole group of people met on that tour, and like are still doing this stuff and still communicating and I feel extremely grateful to have gotten like a new set of cool friends at 75 years old when I met them. And Julien’s very close, very special person deep in my heart, is the truth, I’m very happy to be here with her tonight.”

Julien and Kevin also covered Frightened Rabbit together, and Julien joined Kevin on “No One says You Have To” while they toured together in 2016.
