Watch Beth Gibbons break out Portishead’s “The Rip” on the final show of her first solo tour

Portishead‘s Beth Gibbons just wrapped up her first-ever solo tour in Edinburgh, Scotland on Tuesday night. For all dates of her tour the setlist has stayed the same, with her playing every song from her excellent solo debut, Lives Outgrown, plus “Mysteries” and “Tom the Model” from her album with Rustin Man, and Portishead’s “Roads.” But for this last night of the tour, they added one more song to close out the evening, Portishead’s “The Rip” from 2008’s Third.

“The Rip” feels especially well-suited for Beth’s seven-piece live band, which includes Lives Outgrown producer James Ford and Emma Smith (who also plays in Pulp these days), with its pastoral first half and more komische second half. Watch that and video of “Roads” and solo song “Reaching Out” from Beth’s tour closer, and check out the full setlist, below.

No word on more tour dates, but let’s hope she comes to North America.
