UK trio The Drink announce ‘Capital,’ share ethereal first single “No Memory” (listen)

The Drink

You may remember UK trio The Drink who last year released Company, a compilation of their early EPs. The Drink are back with their proper debut studio album, titled Capital, which will be out November 13 via Melodic. (Pre-orders are up.) Singer/guitarist Dearbhla Minogue, bassist David Stewart and drummer Daniel Fordham are still making off-kilter pop, using odd time signatures, skeletal arrangements, and otherworldly harmonies. It’s complicated but also rather effortless, having arrived at a distinctive sound. (That said, fans of early 4AD bands like Lush or Throwing Muses, you can hear some of that here.) We’ve got the debut of Capital’s first single, “No Memory,” which is dark, droney, playful and ethereal all at once. It’s also a good introduction to The Drink if you’ve never heard them before.
